Sheringham

The Beaumaris is a short walk from Sheringham’s award-winning, ‘Blue Flag’ beach. There is plenty of sand to be enjoyed, as well as cliff-top walks or a stroll along the promenade.

The town is the home of the North Norfolk Railway, which runs steam trains on a picturesque journey along the coast to the market town of Holt.  The ‘Mo’, Sheringham’s seafront museum, houses a collection of historic lifeboats and offers wonderful, uninterrupted views out to sea from its viewing tower.

Away from the thriving town centre with its excellent choice of shops, interesting walks are to be found over commons and through woodlands at Pretty Corner.

Beautiful, un-spoilt North Norfolk often surprises those who have not been here before and lures back many for return visits. Within easy reach from Sheringham are colourful market towns, the beautiful Norfolk Broads, Royal Sandringham, Holkham Hall and the city of Norwich – with it’s Norman Cathedral and Castle, and a host of interesting tourist attractions.

A number of National Trust properties are close at hand, including “Repton’s masterpiece” at Sheringham Park. Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall are also within a few miles.

Much of the North Norfolk Coast is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and falls within the Heritage Coast. It is one of the richest areas of the British Isles for natural history with spectacular and often unexpected views. The Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserve at Cley offers excellent opportunities for bird-watching, and boat trips to see the seals at Blakeney Point are only fifteen minutes or so away.

A range of sporting and recreational facilities are easily accessible, including Sheringham’s own indoor Swimming/Leisure Centre. Within walking distance from the Beaumaris is Sheringham Golf Club, which offers one of the finest 18-hole courses in Norfolk.
